The Big Picture -December 2025

In this series of blogs, we have been making the case to look at the Big Picture and see things the way our Father God sees things. We looked in Isaiah 55:8-9 and saw that God’s ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are greater than our thoughts. We know that He is able to do exceeding abundantly more than we can ask our think (Ephesians 3:20). But when we think too small, we limit the ways in which He can move in our lives.

How do we think too small and limit Him? First, sometimes we limit God by not thinking big enough. We saw how Jesus told Peter to let down his nets, but he only let down his net. Second, we limit God by focusing on our interests and not the interests of the Father. You see, the things that interests the Father are way more important than our interests. Walking out the purpose of the Father brings more success. A key to understanding God’s ways is to see that He is more interested in dealing with the root of the problem, not the effects.

Mark 11:20 is a great illustration of how God solves a problem. Earlier in the chapter Jesus spoke to the fig tree and cursed it. Then when Jesus and the disciples passed by the fig tree, they noticed it was dried up from the roots. When the Father takes care of an issue, He does it from the root of the problem. So many times, we are looking at the symptoms or results from a problem and trying to fix the symptoms. God is showing us, look at the Big Picture and let’s fix the real problem, not the symptoms. Let’s see an example of this in action.

In last month’s blog we mentioned how the disciples were hoping and expecting Jesus to fix the political situation of the Jews. But that was not Jesus’ mission. He was there because man was spiritually dead, separated from the Heavenly Father. That was the root cause of all their problems.

So, to remedy this problem the Father sent Jesus to earth. Jesus was born as a baby to a virgin named Mary. He was born as a man because it would take a man to pay the price for sin. But He was also 100% God. Through the work of Jesus, including the beating He took, the stripes upon His back, being crucified on the cross, and His resurrection from the dead, Jesus defeated Satan. He defeated death, hell, and the grave. And offered mankind eternal life by believing in Him.

Jesus walked on earth for three and a half years. He healed the sick, taught and preached the word. He offered forgiveness and caste out devils. He did it to show the will of the Father. Those moments in ministry helped with the symptoms but did not solve man’s true issue. Jesus’ main purpose was the work at Calvary.

Because our Lord Jesus paid the price for our salvation, we can receive the eternal life He had promised us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Through His work, fellowship with our Father was also restored. The wall that was separating man and God was broken down. (Ephesians 2:12-14) And now we are one with our Creator. The prior separation from the Father, the wall that kept us apart was there because we were spiritually dead. But Jesus removed it by dealing with the core problem.

In next month’s blog we will continue with this point and see that Natural Change Begins With Spiritual Change. Have a blessed Christmas Holiday and remember Jesus is the reason for the season!
