The Big Picture - February 2026
This month I want to finish out a few thoughts on our series The Big Picture. We have seen we can limit God when we think too small. We have seen that God deals with the root of the problem, not just the outside everyone can see. We have also seen that natural change begins with spiritual change. In other words, things will change in the spirit realm before change will be seen in the natural realm. This month I want to connect what we have been learning with the end times.
In 2 Timothy 3, Paul shows the characteristics of man in the last days. This chapter shows us that men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous, lovers of pleasures. Man will also be disobedient to parents, false accusers, without self-control, and despisers of those that are good. Are we seeing that in our lives? Absolutely! It’s almost a perfect description of how so many live today. But our Father has given us a role in these last days. We are to be the Light in the midst of so much darkness.
2 Corinthians 4:3-7 teaches us that the enemy has blinded the minds of them which believe not. God’s response is, He put His light IN US! His light has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
The light signifies development and understanding. So, what the lost need, is a revelation of the truth that is in Christ. And vs. 10 of that chapter explains it this way, “that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” Do you see it? The Father’s plan is to use YOU to be that light!
You will be the connection people have with Jesus. You are shining His light. You are showing His life. Giving hope where there is no hope. Showing love when no one loves them. But you may say, “I am not ready, I’m not equipped enough.” But know this, your Father knew of your deficiencies when He called you. And actually, vs 7 answers that excuse this way, “But we have this treasure (that light) in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” In other words, when God’s light and life shines through us, and His power is revealed, it will be a testimony of the greatness and goodness of God. For if God can use us, humans, He must be a great and almighty God.
But here is the thing. The kingdom of darkness will try to take as many as they can. There is a battle for men! So, the scripture (Mark 16:15) tells us to preach the gospel to every creature. That’s our part. We can’t make them believe but we can give them Jesus. We must live our life with purpose. We have written this series to get to this point. God’s #1 purpose – His greatest interest - is to seek and save the lost. But can we keep our eyes on The Big Picture to make a difference in this battle?
Can we live our life with that purpose, God’s purpose? How valuable are people to us? Maybe the sight and longevity of hell will motivate us to warn the lost. Maybe the love and the goodness of God will compel us to let others know about it. Maybe seeing The Big Picture will move us to put away the ways of our past life (Ephesians 2:3) and walk in the truth of His Word.
No man knows the timing of the return of the Lord Jesus. But signs have been written and the characteristics of man during the last days have been declared. We must be getting close. Are you going to see The Big Picture and live with His purpose? I hope you do. Time is short and so many need Jesus. Let’s fill heaven up!
