All Things Are Possible - August 2025

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

As we read Paul’s words in our text above we see a key ingredient in the way we live our lives.  I don’t think anyone mistakes the word “walk” as meaning every literal step we take in life.  No, he surely means it figuratively – the way we live our life.

We must live our life by faith.  God’s plan for our Christian life is not to live our life and only use our faith when we pray or need something.  No, it’s a lifestyle of faith.

We do things, say things, and take action because of the faith in our heart.  We live our life by the conviction of our belief.  We don’t say what we say or do what we do just because we know we are supposed to.  We do it because “I believe, and therefore speak.”

Romans 1:17 tells us the same thing.  It says, “The just shall live by faith.”  Again God is showing us the importance of lifestyle faith.  Those two scriptures would be enough to know this truth but God repeats the same phrase over and over again.  He also tells us the just shall live by faith in Habakkuk 2:4, Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38.

Are you getting His message?  Live by faith.  You can do it!  Now let’s go back to our text and see the alternative.  When we see the alternative way of living each day I believe we can more easily understand what it means to live by faith.

Paul said, “We walk by faith, not by sight.”  The righteous do not live letting everything they see be their final authority.  We have an understanding that the things of this world, that we can see, are only temporal.  They are subject to change.

We understand that the things of this natural realm are superseded by the things of spirit realm.  The natural realm is subject to change and the spirit realm is an eternal realm.  In other words, trusting in the natural realm is an unsafe guide.

Knowing these things helps us to live by faith.  When circumstances come against us we know that we have a greater promise from a faithful God.  That knowledge will draw our attention to Him, His promises and His goodness.

Now that we have seen that our faith is a lifestyle I want you to see that there are degrees to your faith.  In other words there is greater faith and little faith.  The good news about that is you get to choose the level of faith you walk in.

We can learn from the examples in the word of those that operated in greater faith and also from those who were declared to have little faith.  We will look at what made great faith and what made little faith.  That is next month’s blog.  Until then may God’s best be yours.
